Dear
GMC Alumnus,
Those
of you who are AAPI members may have received a letter in the
last few days addressed in an envelope, purportedly from Gowtham
Mulpur and sent on GUNTUR MEDICAL ALUMNI letterhead (not GMCANA),
endorsing a candidate in the present AAPI elections. The letter has
our names as
Past-President and President on the top and our signatures (not ours)
at the
bottom.
We
are surprised and puzzled after seeing the letter, which did not
come from either of us. One of us (Ravi Tripuraneni) did not
consent to any letter
of endorsement, and the other (Tejanand Gowtham Mulpur)
consented for only a personal
endorsement as a longstanding friend and a patron member of AAPI but
not as the president of GMCANA. We are saddened to see that a person
aspiring to be a leader of AAPI used our names and the name of GMC
Alumni without appropriate authorization and approval.
We
want to emphasize that it is the custom of GMCANA not to endorse
any candidate for AAPI or other elections. GMCANA may, after due
consideration, publish or mail paid advertisements by candidates,
without any implied endorsement. Office bearers in GMCANA would not,
in their official capacity, endorse any candidate and send letters to
membership of GMCANA even though they may recommend a candidate in a
personal capacity.
We
are very sorry for having to write this letter and waste every
one's time just to clear up this issue while there are so many other
things regarding GMCANA that need our time and energy. We hope
you
understand.
Ravikumar
Tripuraneni

Past President, GMCANA
